What to Look for When Choosing an iPhone

iPhones are everywhere, and if you want to get the same great technology as everyone else, you have some decisions to make. Currently, you can get an iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, or iPhone XS Max. They all have multiple options when it comes to features, storage capacity, camera capabilities, and price.

Let’s take a look at some of the options so you can make a better decision.

Cameras

When looking at the camera on an iPhone, the XS and the XS Max win out on versatility and professional-type operations with a telephoto and a wide-angle lens. They also have optical image stabilization, optical zoom, and 10x zoom. You will also experience two different Portrait Lighting features.

The iPhone XR misses out on the wide-angle and telephoto lenses as well as zoom and image stabilization, but it’s still a fantastic camera. It also shares the same user-facing camera as the XS and XS Max. For the average user, this camera is plenty good enough and better than most other cameras they own.

The cameras on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 are missing some of the same depth-of-field effects as the better cameras on the XR and the XS. So, in some lighting situations, they may not take the best pictures. They’re still on par for quality with other smartphone cameras and will be excellent for everyday picture taking, but the technology is three years old or older.

When talking about cameras, it’s also essential to know how many pictures these phones can hold. If you find yourself clicking away all day, you’ll likely run out of space very quickly. If that’s the case, then any iPhone with at least a 128 GB storage capacity will be best. You can get any of these models in that capacity or more.

If you don’t care much about storage capacity, you can also get any of these models with lesser storage capacity. It will end up saving you money. The iPhone XR comes in 64 GB, 128 GB, or 256 GB. The iPhone XS comes in 64 GB, 256 GB, or 512 GB. The iPhone 8 comes in 64 GB or 256 GB. The iPhone 7 comes in 32 GB or 128 GB.

Screen size

To date, the iPhone XS has the largest screen. The iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch screen, and the iPhone XS Max has a 6.5-inch display, so they’re great for streaming media or playing games. The screen is edge-to-edge, so it covers the entire face and features OLED technology to give you vibrant color and incredible detail.

The iPhone XR also has an edge-to-edge screen, so while it’s smaller, it still looks big and detailed. The 6.1-inch LCD screen is big enough for media and gaming. Even though it has a smaller color range than the OLED screen on the iPhone XS, the average user won’t notice.

The iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch retina display screen that is still great while the iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch screen that is a reasonable size for most people. While it’s not the best option if you need a large screen, it’s great for everyday use and fits nicely in your pocket and your hand.

Refurbished vs. new

Choosing between a new and a refurbished phone is a tough decision. There’s something about taking a brand new phone out of the box and powering it on for the first time. If you’re a tech person and you can’t get enough of that feeling, a new phone is probably the best choice. You won’t be happy with anything else.

However, if you love having the latest technology but you don’t want to spend the money, a refurbished phone is an excellent buy. You likely won’t notice that it’s restored, and you’ll save a ton of money. You can get refurbished phones at a fraction of what they cost new. Often, these phones are very lightly used before the restoration.

If there’s still something that irks you about buying a refurbished piece of technology, but you can’t afford something new, check into an insurance policy for your refurbished phone. An insurance policy will give you the peace of mind you need and save you money.

What Is Buy Now Pay Later?

A buy now pay later program like ZipPay and Oxipay allows you to get the latest technology at a price you can afford. If you desperately need a new phone and any of the iPhone models sound appealing to you, but you can’t afford to pay that much out of pocket right now, a buy now pay later program lets you buy it, ship it, and pay for it in more manageable installments.
